A través del juego fortalece el contacto con su familia, sus pares, su entorno físico y social, desarrolla habilidades y amplía los lazos sociales, y en general la capacidad intelectiva, entendida como adaptación al entorno, va representando y recreando las normas, valores, comportamientos y actitudes que lo preparan para asumir la vida adulta. El juego es un insumo básico en la construcción y fortalecimiento de los vínculos afectivos. En algunos casos los padres de familia no reconocen éste como una oportunidad para generar mejores condiciones en la vida interior del hogar. El aprendizaje de los padres se convierte entonces en una prioridad, pues lo más probable es que ni siquiera sepan que son ellos quienes al jugar con sus hijos e hijas están aportando valores a su formación y que a través de éste los menores están recreando el mundo, ensayando formas de convivencia, asimilando normas, aprendiendo de su entorno y construyendo visiones de futuro que ayudaran en su vida y podrán ser, en muchos casos, el motor que los lleve a construir nuevos entornos y modos de vida más armónicos y gratificantes que los que actualmente tienen.
Un juego muy popular es construir, antiguamente se tenían clásicas piezas de construcción en madera que hoy se reinventan con pieza que presentan en su estructura diferentes aristas para elevar torres, poniendo especial cuidado en el equilibrio entre sus piezas. Este juego es una forma muy divertida de desarrollar el sentido del equilibrio y potenciar la psicomotricidad fina.
Si no disponemos de este juguete siempre podemos tirar de la imaginación y usar los recursos que la naturaleza nos presta;)
